Game of Thrones season 7 finale (The Dragon and the Wolf) was the most-watched episode in the show’s history. The super-sized 80-minute episode broke HBO’s ratings records and was watched live by 12.1 million viewers – a 13% increase from the previous record set by the fifth episode of season 7 (Eastwatch) and a whooping 36% rise compared to season 6 finale (The Winds of Winter).
And that’s not all! If you consider HBO’s streaming and replays, the number climbs to 16.5 million. The fact that the episode did not leak ahead of time also helped the ratings.
